Fill time plot vs. Filling Control set point

Comparing and contrasting

Happy Moldflow Monday!

Why does our Fill Time plot not match our Filling Control set point?

This is a question that many Moldflow users have. Fill Time plot shows the time to fill the cavity 100%. Filling Control – Injection Time setting is the time to reach Velocity/Pressure Switchover. For example – an Injection time is 0.65 sec. This is the time to fill the cavity 98% (might be different settings than yours). The last 2% will be filled during 2nd stage packing. If our transfer is 100% volume filled, fill time might equal injection time.

Fill time can also be delayed when there are larger amounts of compressibility, usually in a hot runner system.
